Meeting in Nature – Mental Strength Between Mountains and New Perspectives
Marion WallnerSometimes a forest path is more useful than a seminar room, and a mountain stream’s sound more useful than an office. Sometimes the most important insights emerge where nature sets the pace.
This belief connects us with Dominik. On our GeMa hikes, we repeatedly experience the benefits of movement in nature: minds clear, conversations arise naturally and fresh perspectives often emerge with every step.
With Dominik , we welcome a new partner in the Mölltal valley who shares mental strength in a special, personal way. His workspace extends beyond four walls, along forest paths and streams, towards mountain summits that broaden the view and open space for new experiences.
For Dominik, nature is much more than scenery. It is central to his life and work. Amid the remarkable landscape around Hohe Tauern National Park, he helps people reconnect with themselves, their bodies, breathing and inner compass.
His approach has much in common with our philosophy: perceive, understand, train, regulate and integrate. Lasting change begins with awareness of thoughts, emotions and bodily signals. Dominik helps clients learn to notice these signals again.
This reflects our Ge❤️Ma project’s philosophy: supporting a conscious connection with oneself. Our bodies already hold answers; we need to learn again to be still, listen, notice and trust our inner strength.
We share the idea of reconnecting with the body, finding our own pace and stepping out of everyday life’s fast lane. This opens access to valuable signals and inner resources too easily overlooked in a hectic routine.
Where better than nature? Movement and mindful awareness create space for body and mind to find harmony. Clarity, inner stability and confidence grow step by step.
Dominik offers another special experience: ice bathing.
What first seems a great physical challenge, including to Gerald and me, can become a valuable encounter with yourself. The first thought is often: ‘I cannot do that.’
Dominik knows from practice that mindful breathing, concentration and trust in your body can open new experiences of personal limits. The focus is on discovering that you may be capable of more than you thought.
Will Gerald and I venture into icy water with Dominik? Thank you for the offer – we are still thinking about it, Dominik! 😉
Another focus of Dominik’s work is self-hypnosis.
Often associated with mysticism, it is a conscious form of inner attention: finding calm, directing focus inwards and improving access to thoughts, feelings and resources.
Dominik uses self-hypnosis to help people recognise patterns and develop new perspectives. It is about strengthening self-awareness and relating more consciously to yourself while retaining control.
Many people also know Dominik in another role: as a magician whose performances create magical moments, wonder and surprise.
Magic and mental training connect in fascinating ways. Magic depends on attention, perception and directing focus. It shows how readily perception can change and how exciting a shift in perspective can be.
These abilities also matter in mental work: noticing more consciously, discovering new viewpoints and recognising that change often begins with a different outlook.
Sometimes even the GeMa Stick becomes a magic wand. Perhaps the real magic lies in the person taking time to notice themselves and listen to their body again.
Dominik shares his personal experiences:
“The GeMa Stick fits my work very well – much like Rope Flow.”
Both are simple tools that reconnect people with themselves. The focus is on awareness rather than performance.
In Rope Flow, rhythmic movement shifts attention from thinking to feeling: towards the body, breath and moment.
The GeMa Stick works differently, through conscious touch, activation and perception. Eye exercises, gentle tapping or foot reflex-zone work return attention to the body. You notice tension, areas needing attention and changes in your state. Stick-balancing exercises support concentration, coordination and dexterity. Balancing the 45 cm GeMa Stick on a finger or hand is challenging yet achievable and encourages play at any age. It trains body awareness, fine motor skills and reactions, bringing you fully into the moment.
This is also the focus of my work: helping people regain access to their own awareness and resources.
I believe it is usually the simplest things that bring us back to ourselves.
