It all began with a thought – which became our vision for the GeMa Stick.

When developing our products, we cared about more than form and function. Materials, colours and symbols also have a personal meaning for us. They are part of GeMa’s story and reflect ideas that accompanied us throughout development.

GeMa – our name

GeMa combines our names, Gerald and Marion. The name also echoes the Carinthian dialect word “gema”, meaning “let’s go”.

This connection gave rise to our brand name, colours, logo and, finally, our products.

Wood – natural and unique

From the outset, wood felt like the right material for the GeMa Stick: natural, pleasant to hold and slightly different in every piece. Colour, grain and texture make every stick a unique natural product.

In the traditional five-element system, wood is associated with fresh starts, change, growth and new beginnings . For us, this symbolism fits particularly well with the origins of GeMa.

Care instructions: Please do not treat your GeMa Stick with harsh disinfectants. For normal cleaning, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Allow the wood to dry thoroughly afterwards.

Our colours – red, green and gold

Our brand colours were also chosen deliberately. We understand their meanings as symbolism, rather than guaranteed effects.

Red represents energy, warmth, joy and dynamism for us.

Green connects GeMa with nature, growth, hope and balance.

Gold reminds us of sunshine, appreciation, abundance and the special qualities of simple things.

Why 45 cm?

The length of our GeMa Sticks was chosen primarily for practical reasons. The stick should work well for feet and hands, be easy to handle, and be simple to carry or store.

At the same time, the measurement of 45 cm has an additional symbolic meaning for us. Traditional feng shui measurement systems attribute meanings to certain dimensions. We associate this measurement with wealth and prosperity – understanding wealth as much more than possessions: contentment, love, quality of life and the feeling of being richly rewarded by life.

The stick as a symbol

In different traditions, staffs and sticks are associated with action, creativity, movement and following your own path . For GeMa, this symbolism feels particularly fitting.

Circles and rounded shapes

We symbolically associate the rounded shapes of the GeMa Stick with wholeness, harmony and completeness. A circle has neither beginning nor end, and in many cultures represents cycles and connection.

The number 8

The number 8 has also accompanied our project from the beginning. In various traditions, it is associated with balance, new beginnings and infinity. For us, it also holds a little German wordplay: ACHTsamkeit – ACHTe auf dich. (Mindfulness – take care of yourself; “acht” means eight.)

This is why our GeMa Sticks have eight rings: to remind you to keep making time to pay attention to yourself.

What it means to us

Many of these meanings come from traditional symbolic systems and our personal interpretation. They are not scientifically or medically guaranteed properties of our products. What matters to us is that the GeMa Stick is practical, pleasant to use and tells a story that feels true to GeMa.
